Our recently established controls division specialises in providing reliability and integrity to all aspects of the control of motion. Initially this was
an enhancement to our expertise in the Fluid Power arena but has rapidly expanded to the control interface (whether it be mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic
or a combination of these), between all methods of power and motion.
Global Hydraulics & Controls Ltd has now integrated the controls division with our fluid power section. This synergy has always existed at Global Hydraulics
& Controls but with a determined approach and thorough implementation we have grown in this new age of controls and hydraulics by using the mechatronic focus.
Mechatronics is the synergistic combination of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and software engineering. The purpose of this interdisciplinary engineering field is the study of automata
from an engineering perspective and serves the purposes of controlling advanced hybrid systems. The word itself is a
portmanteau of "Mechanics" and "Electronics".
Mechatronics refers to the efficient and effective integration of mechanical systems and electronics. It is a blend of mechanics and electronics, and has come
to mean the synergistic use of:
- Precision engineering
- Control theory
- Computer science
- Mathematics
- Sensor technology
To design enhanced or "smart" products, processes and systems.
Its application areas range from power systems to transportation to optical telecommunications to biomedical engineering, along with a host of others. Mechatronic
systems are almost everywhere you look.
